The three-day home improvement exposition, billed as a Comic-Con for DIY fans, opens Nov. 6 at Fair Park's Centennial Hall in Dallas.

Dallas will host a new kind of fan convention next month, one built around home design, renovation and hands-on building rather than comics and superheroes. The first-ever DIY CON is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 6, through Sunday, Nov. 8, at Fair Park's Centennial Hall.

Organizers describe the event as similar to Comic-Con, but "entirely themed around home improvement, furniture flipping, and hands-on creativity," according to a release announcing the show.

Drew and Jonathan Scott, the Property Brothers, are the headline names. They will be joined by Ty Pennington, the former host of the Emmy-winning Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and a number of other programs, as well as Chelsea and Cole DeBoer, known for Down Home Fab.

The lineup also reflects the influence of social media on home and garden trends. Some of the country's largest YouTube and Instagram creators are due to appear in person, including the people behind Mr Kate and DadSocial, who will lead live builds and hands-on workshops. Kate Albrecht, co-creator of Mr Kate, said her team has been creating DIY content online for 20 years and is excited to hold an in-person convention for the community. She said they want to bring audiences into the process behind favorite makeovers and help other DIYers develop their ideas with confidence and originality.

Other scheduled guests include Brian and Mika Kleinschmidt, a married real estate and custom home-building team best known for 100 Day Dream Home. Pennington will lead a discussion on what it takes to design, build and renovate dream homes while balancing family, business, budgets and everyday challenges. April Wilkerson, a prominent figure in the maker and woodworking world, will run workshops and demonstrations. She said she hopes people leave feeling able to take on projects they have long wanted to try.

Sarah Listi, founder of Tool Girls Garage, will focus on how careful planning and design can greatly improve renovation results. "Design is about creating spaces that work for the way you live," she said, adding that she will share practical strategies to help homeowners make smarter decisions before beginning a project.

Amanda and Jared Morgan of @ourhistoricalhouse on Instagram and YouTube, who document the restoration of their century-old home, are also on the roster, as are Jenasie Earl of @msviciousdesign, known for colorful room transformations and budget-friendly decor, and Nickell Morgan of @simplyhandmade, who shares space-saving and renter-friendly projects and founded DIY for a Cure.

Organizers say the convention is not limited to professionals or content creators. They expect to draw millennial renters looking to improve an apartment, first-time homeowners learning power-tool techniques, and parents looking for a family project. The release says the goal is to help people turn "I wish I could" into "I actually did."

DIY CON will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. Single-day adult tickets cost $39, and ticket packages and additional details are listed on the event's website.
