Apple is set to ship iOS 27.2 next week, a move that extends its most recent software changes to the entire iPhone lineup. The update follows iOS 27.1, which was restricted to the new iPhone Duo model. This makes 27.2 the primary software release for most users.

The central change involves FaceTime. The Dual Capture feature, introduced in iOS 27, currently allows users to show both front and rear camera feeds during one-on-one calls. iOS 27.2 expands this functionality to group calls. Users can tap the Flip button to activate the rear camera while keeping the front camera active, showing both perspectives to multiple participants simultaneously.

The update also restructures the Apple Podcasts app. The Up Next queue, which 9to5Mac described as cluttered in previous reviews, will be divided into two distinct sections. New Episodes will replace Up Next at the top of the Home tab, listing the latest releases from shows users follow. Directly below this, a new section called Continue Playing will aggregate shows that listeners have started but not finished.

The 9to5Mac writer, who has previously criticized the layout of Up Next, tested the new arrangement in the beta version. The report states the change is a major improvement that helps users track their listening habits more effectively by separating fresh content from incomplete episodes.

A third addition brings user profiles to the Apple TV app on iPhone. While profiles have long existed on tvOS, this is their first appearance on iOS. After the update, users will encounter a profile selection screen upon opening the app. This screen can be disabled if preferred.

Active profiles adjust the app's recommendations and displayed content to match the selected viewer. When a child's profile is active, the app filters to show only age-appropriate series and movies from Apple. This setup aims to keep an adult's viewing queue organized while preventing children from seeing unsuitable material on a parent's device. The update includes these profile tools alongside new features in six other iPhone apps.
