iPhone Duo needs 60W adapters for 20 minute 50 percent charge

Apple has released specific hardware requirements for the iPhone Duo, stating that reaching 50 percent battery in 20 minutes requires a 60W power source.

The company's support documentation details the necessary equipment for both wired and wireless charging. For the 20 minute wired speed, users must pair the phone with the included USB-C cable and a compatible adapter. Apple lists its own 40W Dynamic Power Adapter with 60W Max as an option, priced at $34. Third-party adapters must be rated for 60W or higher, use Adjustable Voltage Supply, and support USB Power Delivery 3.2.

Wireless charging is slower but still efficient. Apple says the iPhone Duo can reach 50 percent in about 30 minutes wirelessly. To achieve this, owners need a MagSafe Charger, which costs $30, or a third-party adapter rated at 35W or higher. The guidance identifies compatible options from Apple and Anker.

9to5Mac notes that third-party chargers often provide better value than Apple's first-party options. The outlet highlights Anker's 100W charging brick as a top pick, noting it works well with iPhones, Macs, and iPads. The writer also mentions that Apple's 40W adapter remains a good deal for those who prefer a first-party option at its reduced price.

Users who need more length than the included cable can purchase Apple's official 2 meter USB-C cable, which is currently available at a discount. These specifications set the hardware floor for the fastest charging speeds available on the new device.
