Jackson Chourio hit four times in a 10-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday in St. Petersburg, Florida. The performance gave the Milwaukee Brewers a 3-0 lead in the World Series, placing the franchise one win away from its first championship in 57 years. The 22-year-old outfielder became the first player under 23 to record four hits in a World Series game in 80 years.

Chourio anchored a decisive fifth-inning rally that produced eight runs, all scored with two outs. He opened the surge with a single up the middle and closed it with a double into the right-center field gap. The Brewers' offensive persistence has defined the series, including a first-inning blitz in Game 1 and a comeback from a four-run deficit in Game 2. Chourio has accumulated eight hits across the first three games of this postseason.

Brewers president of baseball operations Matt Arnold described the outfielder's development as a transformation into a superstar. Arnold recalled signing Chourio out of Venezuela at age 16 in 2021. Captain Christian Yelich noted that Chourio possesses a slow heartbeat and enjoys the moment. Chourio, speaking in Spanish, stated that he focuses on staying calm and expects a lot from himself to match the expectations of others.

The player's October performance has been consistent since the NL Division Series. He recorded a key defensive play against the Los Angeles Dodgers by catching a fly ball off a roof cable, followed by a walk-off single the next day. Field coordinator Néstor Corredor, who has coached Chourio in the World Baseball Classic and Venezuelan winter ball, said the outfielder initially struggled with anxiety against the Dodgers. Corredor added that Chourio has since settled his swing and shortened his approach, understanding that the full team supports him.

Statistical data shows Chourio performs better in high-stakes environments than the league average. While the league-wide OPS drops 39 points in the postseason compared to the regular season, Chourio's OPS has risen. His regular-season OPS from 2024 to 2026 is .799, compared with .882 in the playoffs. He is the first player to record three consecutive seasons with 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases before turning 23. Backup catcher Gary Sánchez observed that Chourio appears to prefer these moments over the regular season.

Chourio cites his personal history as a source of confidence. His father, Jackson Sr., was a fan of the early-2000s Los Angeles Lakers. His younger brother, Jaison, is an outfielder in the Cleveland Guardians system and carries the middle name Oneel after Shaquille O'Neal. Chourio's middle name, Bryan, honors Kobe Bryant. The outfielder has read Bryant's autobiography and strives to adopt its principles. Chourio acknowledged the hard work required to reach this point and expressed satisfaction that the season is unfolding as planned.
