BYD is pricing its new top-tier electric sedan at approximately $300,000, a figure that places the vehicle at the very top of the luxury market. The company confirmed that this specific model will debut globally in the United Arab Emirates, bypassing its home market in China. General manager Hu Xiaoqing announced the location change this week, though a precise launch date remains unannounced.

The new car measures approximately 5,500 millimeters, or 216 inches, in length. This dimension aligns the vehicle with the Rolls-Royce Phantom and the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class. BYD explicitly targets these ultra-luxury brands, marking a sharp contrast to its reputation for affordable models like the Seagull, which sells for under $10,000 in China.

The sedan will be the first BYD model to utilize the company’s solid-state battery technology. It will also feature rear-hinged coach doors, a design element not previously used in the brand’s lineup. During a recent test phase, the vehicle was seen at a BYD Flash Charging station, indicating it will support megawatt fast charging.

Yangwang serves as the highest tier in BYD’s multi-brand strategy, which also includes Denza and FangChengBao. The sub-brand showcases the company's most advanced engineering, including the e4 quad-motor platform that generates 1,300 horsepower. Previous Yangwang models also featured the DiSus-X body control system, which allows vehicles to perform dynamic maneuvers such as jumping.

The new sedan’s price point exceeds the current Yangwang catalog by a wide margin. The brand’s existing U7 electric sedan starts at $98,000, while the extended-range U8L hybrid SUV, currently the most expensive mass-produced vehicle in the lineup, begins at $217,000. Executive vice president Stella Li stated last month that BYD’s first solid-state battery vehicle would debut in 2027, suggesting the new sedan may arrive just ahead of that broader rollout.

Local reports indicate the car was undergoing testing with heavy camouflage last month. Zheng Yu, Yangwang’s executive general manager, described the vehicle as featuring disruptive technology but provided no further technical details. The debut is expected to take place within the current month in the UAE.
