Two separate shootings in Prince George's County Tuesday resulted in two deaths and one person in critical condition.
Officers arrived at the 8100 block of 15th Avenue in Langley Park just before 2 a.m. to find two young women with gunshot wounds. One teen died at the scene, while the other was taken to a hospital where she remains in critical condition, according to a police press release. Detectives are searching for a suspect in that incident and do not believe the shooting was random.
Around 12:25 p.m., police responded to a call at an apartment on the 1900 block of Belle Haven Drive. They found a man with gunshot wounds who was pronounced dead on the scene. The department is working to identify suspects and determine a motive for this second killing.
These deaths extend a deadly seven-day stretch in the county. At least seven people have been killed since Oct. 27, including four on Thursday, Oct. 29.
Chief George Nader addressed the toll in a news release that same Thursday. "We will never lose sight of the human cost of violence," he wrote. "Even one murder is too many."
