Samsung will sell the Galaxy W27 in China on October 29, according to a leak from the account Ice Universe. The device is the final foldable the company will release this year. It is a China-only variant that continues a long-running annual tradition.

The W27 is built on the hardware of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. Ice Universe shared an image showing the phone has a glossy blue rear panel. Gold accents surround the triple-camera array. The design matches the top-tier model from Samsung's 2026 lineup rather than the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8.

Samsung typically rebrands its highest-end foldable for the Chinese market under the W series name. These versions often include special packaging and styling. The only exception was in 2024, when the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition received a wider global release. That model served as a precursor to the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

Choosing the Ultra as the base model for the W27 is a notable shift. The standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 features a new shape that has been well received by customers. However, the W27 follows the wider format used by the Ultra.

Wide-format foldables are gaining popularity in China. Xiaomi recently released a device with a similar form factor. Huawei has also been selling wide foldables for a longer period than any other manufacturer. Analysts predict that foldable display shipments will rise by 44% in 2026 as these wider models become more common.

Samsung has stated that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is a commercial success. The company noted that the release of the iPhone Duo has increased attention on its foldable lineup. Samsung also recently updated several Galaxy devices to Android 17.

The Galaxy W27 will be the last foldable from Samsung in 2026 if the October 29 date holds. The company has several new models planned for the following year.
