Bayern Munich midfielder Ismael Saibari underwent surgery after tearing a ligament in his right ankle. The injury occurred during a 2-2 draw against Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga on Saturday. Two members of the Bayern medical staff assisted Saibari off the pitch after a collision with Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel.
The club issued a brief statement on Sunday confirming that forward Serge Gnabry also suffered an injury to his left hamstring. The report did not provide a specific timeline for the return of either player. This marks a setback for Saibari, who joined Bayern from PSV Eindhoven during the World Cup tournament where he was a key figure for Morocco.
Another key player, Michael Olise, left the game injured but had not received an immediate update from the club. The French star lay on the grass covering his face before requesting a substitution. Additionally, Colombian winger Luis Díaz sat out the match due to a thigh issue, while veteran goalkeeper Manuel Neuer missed the game with a foot problem.
The accumulation of injuries raises concerns for the team ahead of its next fixture. Bayern faces Atlético Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday.
