Detroit Lions fans can watch the team face the Minnesota Vikings for free at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, Nov. 1. The game takes place at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan. Viewers without a cable subscription can access the broadcast on the FOX network by activating a five-day free trial with DIRECTV. The service offers genre packs starting at $39.99 per month that include the necessary channel.

The matchup pits the Lions against the Vikings, who enter the game with a 2-0 record. The Lions are also 2-0, having won their previous two contests against the Arizona Cardinals and the Green Bay Packers. Despite these recent victories, the Lions are projected as slight favorites in their own building. Head coach Dan Campbell acknowledged the difficulty of the task ahead for his team.

Campbell emphasized the importance of the divisional battle in a statement. "It’s important because it’s a division game," Campbell said. "You got an opportunity to go up 2-0 in a tough division…they are 2-0 in our division, that’s the other thing. [With a win], you got a chance to stay in the hunt there." He added that the team simply needs to execute well.

"We just gotta play good, clean, disciplined football," Campbell said. The coach's comments reflect the high stakes of the NFC North competition. Both teams have performed well early in the 2026 season. A win for Detroit would keep them in the running for the division lead.

Historically, the Vikings have held an edge over the Lions in recent matchups. In their past two meetings, Minnesota defeated Detroit with scores of 27-24 and 23-10. The Lions' quarterback Jared Goff will face Kyler Murray, who leads the undefeated Vikings. The outcome of this Week 8 game will determine which team holds the divisional advantage at the three-game mark.

The broadcast is available on the FOX channel. For those using the DIRECTV free trial, the MyNews Genre Pack costs $39.99 monthly and the MySports Genre Pack costs $49.99 monthly. Both options provide access to more than 20 sports-focused channels. The free trial lasts five days before payment begins.
