The Las Vegas Raiders may trade pass rusher Maxx Crosby before the November 10 deadline to acquire draft capital for their ongoing rebuild. The team has fallen from a 3-0 start to a 3-4 record, a decline that has shifted the organizational focus toward accumulating assets rather than contending for a playoff spot.

Crosby remains one of the most productive defenders in the league. He has recorded double-digit sacks in four separate seasons. Since entering the league in 2019, no other player has recorded more tackles for loss, a total of 136. This season, he has applied pressure on quarterbacks 25 times, ranking second in the NFL behind Greg Rousseau.

General Manager John Spytek faces a difficult calculus. Last offseason, the Baltimore Ravens agreed to trade two first-round picks for Crosby. That deal collapsed when the Ravens found a concerning issue during his in-person physical. ESPN reporter Adam Schefter noted this week that it is unknown if Crosby is currently pushing for a move, despite his previous interest in a trade.

Senior NFL writer Pete Prisco argued on CBS Sports HQ that the Raiders should pursue a trade. He suggested the team could leverage Crosby's status to secure a first-round pick and a fourth-round pick. Those selections would provide the draft depth necessary to support quarterback Fernando Mendoza when he eventually assumes the starting role.

Four teams stand out as potential destinations for Crosby. The Chicago Bears currently sit at 5-2 following an 11-6 season in 2025. Their pass rush has struggled, with cornerback Kyler Gordon leading the team with four sacks after playing only two games. Montez Sweat is suspended for two games for violating the performance-enhancing drugs policy, and Dayo Odeyingbo is out with a quadriceps injury.

The Detroit Lions offer a different profile. They are tied for the league lead in sacks with 21, yet they allow the most yards per game at 391.0. Coach Kelvin Sheppard held the Green Bay Packers to 17 points on Sunday. Brian Branch has returned to the lineup, and Kerby Joseph may return soon. Adding Crosby would create a dual-threat pass rush opposite Aidan Hutchinson.

The Dallas Cowboys rank third-worst in total yards allowed per game at 382.5. They are tied for fourth-worst in sacks with eight. The team recently signed former Steelers cornerback Joey Porter Jr. Owner Jerry Jones may view a trade for Crosby as an aggressive move to fix a defense that has underperformed expectations in 2026.

The Buffalo Bills represent a more speculative option. Their defense ranks last in points per drive allowed at 2.76. Buffalo has won four games this season, and in all four victories, the team allowed at least 30 points. The rest of the league went 8-42 in games where defenses conceded that many points through Week 6. Pairing Crosby with Greg Rousseau and Deone Walker would address a clear statistical deficiency.
