Roseville quarterback Chase Browning threw for 162 yards and three touchdowns Friday night to lead the Raiders past Coon Rapids 24-14. The victory secured the Metro Maroon subdistrict title for a program that had not won the honor in four years. The final score gave Roseville a 4-4 regular season record, marking its best finish since 2017. Browning noted the team’s hard work had finally paid off, describing the moment as an amazing feeling.
The result places Roseville in a strong position for the Class 6A playoffs. The Raiders enter the postseason as a contender following their regular season campaign. Their victory over Coon Rapids serves as the primary driver for their seeding and potential for a deep run in November.
Elsewhere in the East Metro, Centennial defeated Anoka 38-6. This win likely secures the Cougars a No. 3 seed in the Class 6A playoffs. Anoka was held to just six points, a defensive milestone for the team as they had previously allowed double-digit scores in every game this season.
Mounds View claimed the Metro East subdistrict title by defeating White Bear Lake 22-16. Tanner Jude scored on a one-yard run with 65 seconds remaining to give the Mustangs a lead. A successful two-point conversion extended the margin to six points. Preston Johnson intercepted a pass on the final White Bear Lake possession to close the game. The Mounds View defense limited White Bear Lake quarterback Wyatt Stachowiak to six completions on 24 attempts.
East Ridge beat Woodbury 42-31 to close out its regular season. Logan Tretter rushed for two touchdowns, while Elias Mather returned an interception for a late score. The result concluded a season that diverged from initial expectations for the program.
Forest Lake running back Mack Jurkovich finished the season with 1,600 rushing yards. He gained 245 yards and two touchdowns in a 31-13 victory over Stillwater. The win locks up a No. 2 seed for the Rangers in the Class 6A playoffs. Jurkovich is committed to St. Thomas University. Park receiver Manny Vargas also scored twice in an 18-10 win over Eastview, catching a touchdown pass and returning a punt 75 yards for a score.
Lakeville South kicker Dylan Nelson kicked a 36-yard field goal with one second left to beat Rosemount 17-14. The upset complicates the seeding picture in the south metro for the upcoming Class 6A playoffs.
