Samsung Japan has published a specific schedule for the One UI 9 software update, confirming that 40 Galaxy phones and tablets will receive the Android 17-based system between October and November 2026. The announcement provides concrete dates for users in the region, ending speculation about when the next major software release will land on older hardware. The company stated that the updates will arrive in phases during the current month and the following one.
One UI 9 first appeared in September on the Galaxy S26 series. Since that initial launch, the software has expanded to several devices from the previous generation. The new list extends that reach to a wider range of flagship, mid-range, and tablet models. While the timing details are specific to Japan, the selection of eligible hardware is expected to mirror the global rollout list.
The flagship phone list includes the Galaxy S26, S26+, S26 Ultra, S25, S25 Ultra, S24, S24 Ultra, S24 FE, S23, and S23 Ultra. Foldable devices on the schedule are the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, Z Fold 5, and Z Flip 5. Mid-range smartphones covered by the update include the Galaxy A57, A55, A54, A36, and A25.
Tablets receiving the update span multiple generations. The list includes the Galaxy Tab S11, S11 Ultra, S10, S10+, S10 Ultra, S10 FE, S10 FE+, S10 Lite, S9, S9+, S9 Ultra, S9 FE, and S9 FE+. The roster is completed by the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024), Tab A11, Tab A11+/5G, and Tab Active 5 Pro. These devices represent the core of Samsung's current lineup that supports the new operating system features.
The published list is not exhaustive. It omits several expected candidates, including the "Plus" versions of recent Galaxy S flagships. Many Galaxy A models and devices sold in other markets are also absent from this specific Japanese schedule. Owners of those excluded models should wait for further announcements regarding their update windows.
Samsung expects the global rollout to continue beyond the Japanese timeline. Entry-level devices are likely to receive the software through December and January 2027. The company will continue distributing the update globally as infrastructure allows, ensuring that the software reaches the full range of supported hardware over the coming months.
