Shooting at Loganholme Venue: Four Hospitalized Before Boxing Gala

A car fired shots into a crowd outside a boxing venue in Loganholme, Queensland, on Saturday, leaving four people with gunshot wounds. The attack occurred at 8:15 pm, just before the start of the Logan City Titles Fight Night.

Queensland police dispatched officers to the licensed premises on Bryants Road after receiving reports of gunfire. The vehicle responsible for the shooting was spotted leaving the area. Medics transported the four injured individuals to a hospital, where medical staff are currently evaluating their conditions.

Deputy Commander Chris Stream described the scene as confronting. He noted that the victims were shot while attending the event. Police have stated that the shooters remain at large, though they do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.

Logan Mayor Jon Raven told the Today show that the incident has sent a shockwave through the local community. He said residents are frightened and that the area has never experienced an event like this before. Raven noted that he has attended similar events in the past and found them to be family-friendly, with many children in attendance.

Raven said the event was organized to help steer young people away from violence. He described the organizer as someone who uses boxing to empower and reconnect youth. "This is the opposite of what he'll want to see," Raven said. He added that the incident would impact the children involved for the rest of their lives.

On Sunday morning, the Logan City Titles organizers posted a statement on social media. They described the event as a community gathering meant to showcase local talent and hard work. The statement said that these types of incidents have no place in the boxing community or the broader community.

Police have urged anyone with information about the shooting to contact them. The search for the suspects continues.
